Then and Now

ADAPTIVE REUSE of a historic building

  • History

The 1104 Jefferson Ave. building was once the Epling Building, newly built in early 1948 (sic) and leased out that year to Fondren Motors with Nash Sales & Service. In 1963 the Harmon Motor Company moved there from its former Adams Avenue site, and about 1984 it became Blue Mountain Auto Parts.

  • Former Napa Auto Parts

Under the same ownership, it later transitioned to Car Quest and eventually Napa Auto Parts, remaining a cornerstone of the local automotive scene for decades.

  • K Voelz Wines Tasting Room

In August 2023, Kimberly Voelz acquired this historic contributing building in downtown La Grande with a plan to breathe new life into this underutilized area of town. The transformation from an auto parts hub to a sophisticated wine tasting room is a testament to the building's enduring legacy and adaptability. Now, instead of car engines and spare parts, you'll find elegant wine barrels and tasting bars inviting you to indulge in the rich flavors of our meticulously crafted wines. You’ll also find our signature ‘61 GMC in the former showroom turned tasting room as a nod to preserving the historic character of the building.
